The Sacramento Kings haven’t always been the Sacramento Kings. The team was founded in 1923 and they were known as the Rochester Seagrams, based out of Rochester, New York. In 1945 they changed their name to the Rochester Royals, and then in 1957 they relocated to Cincinnati. They were briefly located in Kansas City until they relocated to Sacramento in 1985. Ever since then, they’ve been known as the Sacramento Kings.
The franchise has one championship title, which they won in 1951 while still located in Rochester. The Kings’ biggest rivals are the Los Angeles Lakers. These two teams are located in the same state and have battled for supremacy for many years. The highlight of that rivalry was in 2002, when the two teams squared off in the Western Conference Championship for a shot to go to the NBA Finals. Although the rivalry hasn’t been as fierce over the last few years, Kings and Lakers games tend to be the games that are hardest to find tickets to.
The Kings play in the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. Tickets to Sacramento Kings games, whether they’re playing here or somewhere else, are big items.
