Best Place to Sit in the Spectrum Center
We will go over all of the main areas inside the Spectrum Center. We’ll focus on getting the best seats possible. Keep an open mind when it comes to a budget. This will make searching for a seat a lot easier. We’ll go over one area to avoid it if you can. Some of the seats mentioned below will be difficult to come by unless you are a season ticket holder. For the most part, however, everything is up for grabs when paying the right price for a ticket.
Lower Level – This is the area where you should focus most of your time unless you want some kind of suite. The lower level includes all seating in the lower bowl around the court. This also includes courtside seats which we will get into next. If you want to sit behind the Hornets bench look for section 104. If you are a fan of the opposing team look for section 106. These two sections will carry a heavier price tag than the same seats on the opposite side. Sections 102/103 and 107/108 are the tunnels where the players come out. This is a cool location if you are coming with the kids.
Courtside Seats – Our favorite place to sit are the Charlotte Hornets courtside seats. Look for section CS. There are a couple of rows considered for courtside so keep that in mind when selecting. You’ll have some great amenities like padded seats, in-seat waiter service, a parking pass, and plenty of other perks.
Hardwood Seats – Just like the Courtside seats these are the seats located between the benches and scorers’ table. These are extremely limited, but they are the best seats in the house. You’ll have access to everything above when it comes to the amenities.
Upper Level – When it comes to getting the most out of your game or concert we suggest you avoid the upper level. These are the cheapest seats in the building, but that is the only thing good about them. We suggest you spend some extra money to get into the lower bowl.
Club Seats – Located in sections 104/105/106/113/114/115 are the club-level seats. These tend to be pricey, but the good times will roll. You’ll have smaller lines to the restrooms and concessions as well as some really good views.
Terrace Tables – These are cool seats in sections T1-T22. They have some fun things to go with them including all-inclusive food and soft drinks, access to all kinds of lounges, cool settings, and much more. Look for an even number of tickets up to 8.
Royal Boxes – These are semi-private box seats that give you a nice view. Just above the lower bowl, you’ll find yourself with a pretty exclusive crowd. VIP entrance, executive seating, all-inclusive food and soft drinks, and much more.
Suites – Getting access to a suite is an ideal solution when you have a big group. You’ll have free parking, a VIP entrance, leather seating, and all kinds of food and drink options.
There are other club seats in the venue, but for the most part, everything you are looking for is above. Also, when there is a concert you will see floor seats will become available. This will be up to you when comes to finding the best concert seats at the Spectrum Center. Go section by section and look for 1-3 rows back in each to see if there is a price drop. This will potentially save you money while still giving you a great view of the stage.
Spectrum Center in a Nutshell
This arena was home to the Charlotte Bobcats when it opened in 2005. It was then changed names to where we are today. It was once the Time Warner Cable Arena and then eventually became the Spectrum Arena which in essence is the same company.
Eventually, the Bobcats moved to New Orleans to become the New Orleans Pelicans. This situation guaranteed a new team in Charlotte and this is how they became the Charlotte Hornets. Although the arena cost $260 million to construct it’s about to go through a major renovation which will cost more than the original cost of the building. Good things will come from it when it is complete.
The arena can hold up to 19,000 fans for a basketball game. Concert sizes change depending on how the stage is set up. You can see anywhere between 13,000 and 18,000 fans take in a concert. It does have the ability to host hockey with a crowd of 14,000.
The Spectrum Center hosted the 2019 NBA All-Star Game. Besides the NBA games, you can also expect a lot of NCAA basketball tournament games to appear.
Some of the bigger concerts that have passed through these doors over the years include the likes of The Black Keys, Bruno Mars, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Keith Urban, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Rihanna, and Twenty One Pilots. Several acts are coming up so be sure to check the listings above for more information
Parking Around the Corner
Unless you have some kind of parking pass be sure to include an extra $20 in your budget. There are several parking garages surrounding the arena for you to choose from. The further away you are the less it will be. Try using one of the parking apps like Parkwhiz so you can get your parking pass ahead of time. This is one less hassle you have to worry about.
Check Out Some Restaurants
One of the things to consider is the food on your night out. Would you rather eat arena food or take in some of the local options around town? We share with you some places to check out to make your evening out better. There are plenty of places to choose from, but these stand out for now.
BLT Steak – This is a bit more than most people would want for their night out, but this is a great place to check out before or after a concert. Offering all kinds of steaks and chops BLT is one place to add. Get a nice glass of wine before entering your event.
Fahrenheit Charlotte – Look for some American food to bring in the evening. Check out some quality service and really good service.
Rooster’s Wood-fired Kitchen – Checking this staple out will make you feel really good when you are done. Some southern food before a game is all you need. There are plenty of options on the menu. You can see more here.
Know the Details
You’re getting close to your event and are wondering about a few more things. Here are some of the things you need to consider before attending the Spectrum Center
There is currently a no-bag policy so make sure you have pockets to bring in what you need. You can try to bring a small purse or handbag and as long as it isn’t too big you should be okay.
Everything in the building is cashless so be ready to use a card. Cash will not be accepted at the game or concert. Even a $3 water will need to pay for by card. You will also have mobile tickets to this event. You’ll need the Hornets mobile app or the Ticketmaster app to get you in.
As for Covid-19, there are no requirements at this time. They wish you to wear a mask but nor vaccination is required. Make sure you double-check this before you attend in case the promoter of the event wants masks or you have courtside seats and the NBA requires masks.
