Raconteurs are currently touring North America in support of their new album – “Help Us Stranger”. Their itinerary includes stops in locations like San Antonio, Dallas, St. Louis, three performances in Tulsa and others. The band will also perform at the “Austin City Limits Music Festival”, “MEMPHO Music Festival” and “Miami Beach Pop Festival” before heading to Mexico and Latin America for more shows.

“Help Us Stranger” is Raconteurs’ first new album in more than a decade. With a perfect alternation of loud to quiet songs, “Help Us Stranger” features few tracks that seem inspired by the band’s old vibe, like “Sunday Driver” that sounds a bit like the 2006 “Steady, As She Goes”. Other songs such as “Only Child” remind fans the band has a great ability to create soft songs. “Thoughts and Prayers” showcases how meditative these boys can be in creating music and lyrics, by approaching the topic of aging in the cultural moment we are currently living.

“Shine the Light on Me” includes prog opera elements, with influences from “Queen” and “Electric Light Orchestra”. On the loud palette, we find “Bored and Razed” having in foreground the voice of Jack White, the pop-flavored track “Live a Lie” and the guitar powered, Lynyrd Skynyrd influenced track “Somedays (I Don’t Feel Like Trying)”.

The album shows above all that all band members, Jack White included, have had a lot of fun creating it and that energy and joy is one of the best ingredients for delighting the band’s fans.

Jack White – guitarist and vocalist of “White Stripes” and solo artist Brendan Benson became friends in the ‘90s. White brought drummer Patrick Keeler and bassist Jack Lawrence to collaborate on the album “Van Lear Rose” released in 2004 by Loretta Lynn. In this climate, in 2005 the indie band “Raconteurs” was born. In Australia, the band called themselves “the Saboteurs”, as Raconteurs title was already taken by a band in Queensland. The four musicians made the debut of their new band with “Steady, As She Goes”, a 7-inch single released in limited edition. The single was built on a fusion of remarkable elements: great vocals from Jack White, impressive opening bass line and a catchy guitar riff. The first 1,000 copies issued in U.K. were followed by another 1,000 copies issued in the U.S., with the track available also on the group’s official website. The single whose bassline was compared to the one in Joe Jackson’s “Is she really going out with him?” was named by “Rolling Stone” the second-best song of 2006 and in 2007 it received a “Grammy Award” nomination for “Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal”. Officially released in April, the single was followed by the band’s first album called “Broken Boy Soldiers” אתר רשמי. Whilst working on their debut album, the group also made their first live appearances: in March in the UK, in a short British tour, and in April in the U.S. Jack White’s fame acted as an anchor in building for the band a high profile in a very short period of time. Hence, “Broken Boy Soldiers” album recorded a great performance for such a “young” group: #7 in the U.S. charts and #2 in the U.K. charts. Showcasing how much Jack White and Brendan Benson loved the ‘60s guitar pop, the album produced hit singles “Broken Boy Soldier”, “Hands” and “Intimate Secretary”.

In March 2008, the band surprised their fans with the release of their second album called “Consolers of the Lonely”. The album displayed a perfect fusion of classic and modern: on one hand, it featured several tracks influenced by “The Who” and “Led Zeppelin” and on the other, it featured a collaboration with Adele, an icon of the new successful generation of singers, who brought her contribution to the single “Many Shades Of Black”. With “Salute Your Solution” released as a single, the album benefited from a supporting tour that included performances at several festivals. “Consolers of the Lonely” reached #7 in the U.S. charts and #8 in the charts from U.K. Nominated for two “Grammy Awards”, the album won the award for “Best Engineered Non-Classical Album”.

After the tour supporting the album “Consolers of the Lonely”, the band took a quiet break. Its members performed at various festivals or as standalone artists, reuniting on few appearances in 2011. In 2013, some rumors about a new album appeared, yet they didn’t come to reality. Two years later, in 2015, Brendan Benson and Jack Lawrence performed “Salute Your Solution” and “Steady, As She Goes” during a show that Jack White sustained in Nashville.

In 2018, a deluxe vinyl edition was issued to celebrate the ten years anniversary of the album “Consolers of the Lonely”. Pressed on a remarkable copper foil vinyl, the deluxe edition was the first release on colored vinyl of the double LP. Additional to the slightly reinterpreted front cover, the release featured also “Sunday Driver” and “Now That You’re Gone” that would later be included in the band’s new album – “Help Us Stranger”.
