Right Time to Buy Pittsburgh Steelers Tickets
Is there a right time to buy Pittsburgh Steelers tickets? After many years of following the ticket business, we’ve learned that there are certain strategies that can be taken to help save you money. At the end of the day, you are best not to think about your wallet so much after you make your purchase. Just make sure you find some good seats at the best value possible.
If the Steelers are coming off a loss we feel like this is a good time to find tickets to the game you want to see. A lot of ticket sellers will try to sell their seats hoping to get the best price based on what just happened. If the Steelers are coming off back-to-back losses you will have an even better chance of saving some money. Most likely it won’t be a fire sale of tickets, but sellers will try to reduce prices to make sure their tickets are sold.
If the Steelers are having a good season you should start looking for tickets around two weeks before the game you want to see. This gives sellers and buyers a good amount of supply and demand and prices will not go up too much. We recommend watching several sections around Heinz Field throughout the season to see what kind of price swings occur.
Another thing to consider is the opponent. Understand that going to a game against a divisional opponent, the Green Bay Packers, or any other big-name team will cost you more money.
Best Place to Sit at Heinz Field
Picking the right seat is what going to the game is all about. It’s not so much where you sit, it’s the section that really matters. We go through some of the key locations around Heinz Field. We will always recommend good or better seats to make your experience worth it.
Lower Level – If you can get lower-level seats you will be impressed. These seats get close to the action and really make the experience great. If you want to sit behind the Steelers bench look for seats in sections 134 and 135. Maybe you are a fan of the opponent. Look for seats in sections 110 and 111.
Clubs and Suites – Although each club will offer something a little different you can still expect some great perks. Anything from bigger seats to private bathrooms. We highly suggest you try to get these types of seats if you want a more chill type of seat with great amenities.
Upper Level – A section we suggest you avoid is the upper level. We know these are the most affordable seats, they are just not worth it. You will be better off watching the game from home. Be honest with yourself and spend the extra money to get in the action.
Parking Situations in Pittsburgh
Parking around Heinz Field can get a little confusing. If you have never been, we suggest you check out a map to see how the parking situation flows. You can expect to pay on average of $20 to park your car. The closer you get to the stadium, the more likely that price will rise. If you can get a parking pass ahead of time you could save some hassle. You need to consider location if you plan to tailgate. If you can buy seats that include a parking pass, you should definitely take it.
Restaurants Around Steelers Stadium
If you would like to enjoy a meal before or after a game that doesn’t involve stadium food you are in luck. There are several places you can check out for a meal. Here are just a couple of restaurants worth checking out.
The Foundry | Table & Tap – Gain access to nice gastro pub style food with a wide selection of beers on tap. You can expect nice service at an affordable price.
Burgatory – This is a neat spot for some really good burgers and shakes. This is a great way to fill up before a game. This location can get really busy on gameday so keep that in mind.
Hotels in the Area
If you are coming in from out of town or a long-distance, a hotel may be the way to go. There are a ton of hotels in the area of the stadium. Make sure you do your research to find a hotel that meets your requirements.
Residence Inn by Marriott Pittsburgh North Shore – For around $150 you will have access to a nice clean bed and excellent service. You can also wake up to a great breakfast before you depart.
Distrikt Hotel Pittsburgh, Curio Collection by Hilton – For a more modern feel, this is a great hotel option. The location is really good and the price is around $145 for the night. This price will most likely go up around game weekends.
Options When Buying Tickets
If you only want to go to one game during the season then buying tickets from sites like SeatGeek or StubHub is the way to go. However, there are a couple of options you should consider before making your purchase.
Season Tickets – Making the commitment to buying season tickets is a big investment. We suggest you purchase season tickets if you wish to go to more than one game a season. This will give you the option to sell the other tickets to help recoup some of the money that you are spending on the games you go to see. If the Steelers are having a really good season, you can even make money on your season ticket purchase. At the end of the season, you will most likely lose a little bit of money, break-even, or even make money.
Last-minute Tickets – If you have more of a risk tolerance then going to the game without a ticket is something you should consider. You can wait until the last minute to purchase tickets to watch the Steelers. There is always a ticket available from sellers that had to change their plans or for some other reason. If the Steelers are having a terrible season this is another way you can save money. We only suggest you do this if you are comfortable with getting shut out completely from going to the game.
