Best Time to Buy Philadelphia Flyers Tickets
It’s come to that time where you want to go to a Flyers game but you’re not sure when to buy tickets. We’ll help break down some information so you can save money on your purchase.
When the Flyers are a hot team you can expect ticket prices to sell out much quicker. When they are not playing so well you’ll have plenty of options to purchase your tickets at reasonable costs.
One thing you want to consider before purchasing your tickets is the game you want to see. Although you would love to see them play against the best teams in the NHL, you sometimes have to consider the budget before the opponent. If the Flyers are playing the Pittsburgh Penguins you will end up paying a lot more than if the Flyers were playing the Arizona Coyotes.
So when do you purchase these tickets? A lot of people really start looking around two weeks before the game. We think 7 to 10 days is your sweet spot. This is where prices will fluctuate in certain sections of the arena. If you are determined to go you might be better off just purchasing your tickets. Waiting could leave you out in the cold without tickets or saving any money.
Cheap Philadelphia Flyers Tickets are available if you choose the right game.
If you are bringing the whole family to the game you have a few things to consider. If you can make it during the week, especially on a Monday or Tuesday, you’ll end up saving more money than if you were buying them for the weekend. Of course, a Saturday night game against the New York Rangers is going to cost a lot more than a Monday night game against the Winnipeg Jets.
Where is the Best Place to Sit at the Wells Fargo Center?
We will always talk about budget but any time you can get center ice or behind the players, you will have a much better experience. The upper deck at the Wells Fargo Center doesn’t give you the best view but you can save money while still taking in a great game.
It’s all about Budget and the experience you want.
We mention this a lot but if you’re willing to sit in the middle of a section price will be cheaper than if you sit on the aisle. The first four seats in a row will be the most expensive. Most single viewers will purchase the aisle seat for simplicity and have a little bit of space on the interior of the section.
If you’ve never been to a hockey game you can get a great visual from behind the goal. Try to sit behind the visitor’s net, that way you can see the Flyers play offense on that side twice and even more if it goes to overtime or shootout.
What should you know about the Wells Fargo Center?
The Wells Fargo Center hosts the Philadelphia Flyers, 76ers, and many other local professional teams. You can expect to see dozens of concerts and events all year round. For a Philadelphia Flyers hockey game, the Center can hold up to just over 19,000 people. That’s a lot of screaming fans come playoff time. It will bring a great atmosphere and really make your experience that much better.
***The Wells Fargo Center opened in 1996 with a construction cost of $210 million. You can expect a lot of great seats in the center throughout the year.
Where Does One Park Outside the Wells Fargo Center?
Like every other big city, it is sometimes best to stick to public transportation. If you do decide to drive to the game please check out our favorite site for parking deals.
If you’re planning for an evening game you may want to check out one of the many restaurants nearby. Although a cheese steak may be in order there are several restaurants that are quite good. Restaurants to consider before games include Cadillac grill and Chickies and Pete’s. Both of these locations have received nice reviews and will provide the family with a tasty dinner before a game.
If you’re a beer drinker there is some good news. Not on the price of course, but you will have a ton of different microbrews to choose from on top of the normal domestics. You can expect to pay anywhere between $10 and $14 a beer. Hockey spectators are notorious for drinking a lot of beer during a game, especially at a Flyers game.
When it comes to selecting a hotel near the Wells Fargo Center you do have some choices. However, most hotels are about 4 miles away. Options include the Hampton Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Doubletree, and our favorite, Kimpton Hotel Monaco. Of course, the prices will vary on a night-to-night basis. This brings us back to the point of saving money on tickets. If you were to stay the night on a weekday you will be way ahead of the game on savings.
There are Several Ways to Get Tickets
- Season tickets – At the beginning of the season you will be offered plenty of season ticket packages. It will be up to you whether you can make it to that many games throughout the year. If you select a season-ticket package you can always resell your tickets. You have to be willing to put in the time so those tickets get sold.
- Single-game tickets – If you want to see a single game you can purchase your tickets the from many different sites list here. Your choice of game will come down to whether you want to go during the week, weekend and of course the team you want to see them play.
- Group tickets – If you decide you want to see several games throughout the year, a group package may work. This allows you to get tickets for several games throughout the year. Teams they play and days of the week will vary but you should get a price reduction.
- Last-minute tickets – This is a great way to go to a game. If you decide to go to a game the night of, you’ll have to look quickly and find a good section to sit in. You could also wait for the last possible moment before the drop of the puck. We think within one hour is a prime time spot to grab reasonably priced tickets. If you’re a single viewer you’ll be able to find seats all over the arena for a pretty fair price.
Going Back on Some Philadelphia Flyers History
The Philadelphia Flyers became part of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference in 1967. They have won two Stanley cups occurring in 1973 in 1974.
