Things to do in Philadelphia Each Month 2023

Each month during the year you have plenty of options when it comes to entertainment. If you are looking for things to do in Philly by month, we’ve put together a small list of things that tend to happen annually. These things can be added to your calendar so you are prepared way ahead of time.

January – Kick things off with the new year in Philadelphia. You have plenty of choices to make when it comes to entertainment. As the Flyers season starts to ramp up and the Eagles season starts to wind down, you have some options such as the Philadelphia Auto Show or checking out a concert at the Kimmel Center.

February – Daylight is starting to last a bit longer, but it can still be cold in Philly. There are some interesting events worth checking out, however. Check out the African American Museum during black history month. The Chinese Lantern Festival is a great experience for the family as well. There is also a tattoo arts convention if that is something you are into.

March – As spring starts to get closer, you may want to venture outside more. The Philly Flower Show is a great way to bring positive energy into your life. The 76ers playoff hopes start to really kick in during the month. You also have the epic St. Patrick’s Day parade that gives the city of brotherly love a good time.

April – You’ve made it to the month of April after a long winter. It is now time to enjoy some entertainment outside. Yes, the 76ers should be in the playoffs. Check out the Philadelphia Festival of the Arts. A cool site to see is the Penn Relays. The Philadelphia Science Festival is also something for those interested in academics.

May – Baseball is kicking in as the winter sports come to a close. You can head to Citizens Bank Park for a game. Another fun thing to do is go to the Rittenhouse Square Fine Art Show. This festival brings in artists from all over the world. How about checking out a Philadelphia Union soccer game at Subaru Park?

June – Now we have the Phillies in full swing. You may want to go check out a game. If the 76ers are in the playoffs or NBA Finals, this could be a real treat. The Odunde Festival is a large event featuring live music and plenty of different foods and crafts. You also may want to check out the International Dragon Boat Festival. This is a nice day on the Schuylkill River.

July – We are getting into the summer festivities around Philadelphia. You have the WaWa Welcome America Festival which provides a lot of entertainment over a few days. For a cheaper outing go check out an outdoor movie.

August – As we kick into the end of summer before schools start, there are still things you can do around the city. Take in a day game and watch the Phillies make their move into the postseason. You can always take in the Philadelphia Zoo with the kids. Let’s not forget all of the shows happening at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts.

September – As we get ready for Autumn we have to keep the Eagles on our minds. NFL and College football teams are kicking it in. The XPoNential Music Festival is worth checking out since it moved in July. One of the biggest festivals of the year takes place with the Made in America Festival. This is cram month for sure. Between festivals, food, and sports games, you have tons of options to choose from.

October – Getting over the hump of the summer months brings in some cooler temperatures. Football is certainly something you can check out. The Phillies are hopeful to be in the postseason trying to make another World Series run. You can check out all of the different Halloween festivities around the city.

November – You are now in the heart of the Eagles season. Depending on how well they are playing, this will be the hottest ticket in town. Go to a game at Lincoln Finacial Field. This is also around the time the NBA and NCAA basketball seasons start. The museums located in downtown Philadelphia will welcome you with open arms as well.

December – You’ve made it to the end of the year. Christmas is around the corner and the new year is about to start. This is the time to check out the Franklin Square Holiday Festival. You can also check out the Longwood Gardens Christmas and visit the Christmas Village. Take the family to the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest for a nice day or night out.
