The team was founded in 1946, and originally located north of Philadelphia, in Syracuse, New York. Called the Syracuse Nationals, the team relocated to Philly in 1963 and became the 76ers as we know them today. This was also around the time (1965) that the legendary Wilt Chamberlain joined the team, leading the Sixers to an NBA Championship in 1967. He’s now immortalized in the Basketball Hall of Fame. Other big names that have played with the Sixers include Billy Cunningham, Charles Barkley, Julius Erving, and Allen Iverson. Today, the 76ers are a well seasoned team, and have been through all sorts of ups and downs. That’s common with any team that’s been around for a few decades, and the Sixers might be the epitome of this. They’ve won a total of three NBA Championships, and they’ve appeared in the Playoffs many times.

Big rivals for the Sixers include the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. Both of these teams draw big crowds, whether they are at home or away. Tickets to Philadelphia 76ers games are always hot items, but when the Celtics are in town, you can almost guarantee that the game is going to sell out. If you’re interested in going to see the Sixers play this season, make sure you move fast so you don’t miss out on your chance to see some exciting basketball action.
