K-Pop Craziness continues across the globe. It’s our turn to share some information about the big-name acts and when they plan to tour. Korean Pop artists have been all the rage lately. WHY? Great question. Read more about many of the different groups touring.

Who is BTS?

Straight out of South Korea, BTS is a seven-man boy band. They made their debut under the Big Hit Entertainment in 2013 and have been soaring through the charts ever since. BTS has been at the top of every K-Pop chart since then, helping them to grow in recognition well beyond South Korea. They have recorded four studio albums and six compilations in total.

In 2014, BTS embarked on its first international tour, The Red Bullet Tour, which visited Asia, Australia, North America, and South America. They drew about 80,000 fans during their 18-city, 13-country outing.

In 2017, they embarked on their The Wings Tour, visiting 17 cities in 10 countries around the world. Like any other show, the price of these tickets depended on the position of the seat. They typically ranged in price from $60 to $250.

The Love Yourself World Tour began on August 25, 2018, and ended on April 7, 2019. This saw the group performing their hit music in front of over a million spectators on 4 continents in 20 countries around the world. Tickets averaged about $250 apiece on the Powerhouse Live website.

The demand for tickets was massive, with some tickets going as high as $1000. It was dubbed the most expensive concert ever performed by any K-Pop band.

In December 2019, the management of Big Hit Entertainment teased that the infamous K-Pop group had something coming up. It’s generated a lot of rumors ever since and there are speculations that BTS may be going on tour for their last EP, Map of the Soul: Persona. The EP itself was a chat topper worldwide. K-Pop fans definitely will want to keep tabs on this possible tour.

BTS has sold 16 million albums in physical sales and is the best-selling K-Pop artist to debut in the 2010s.

BLACKPINK

Blackpink is a four-member South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment.

Since debuting in August 2016, Blackpink has had 19 releases, including a studio album and a live album, eight singles, and three extended playlists. They have embarked on two headlining tours, too. In July 2017, the group held its debut showcase in Japan in front of 14,000 fans. This was followed by their first Japanese concert tour, the Blackpink Arena Tour.

On November 10, 2018, Blackpink embarked on its first World Tour. This is an ongoing project and is scheduled to end on February 22, 2020. The tour will see the Blackpink performing shows across different continents all over the world. The tour also features the group performing seven shows in North America, as well as stops in Europe and Australia.

There are also stops scheduled for two cities in Japan—Osaka, and Fukuoka. The tickets for these shows are in high demand and almost sold out. Tickets are typically priced between $173 and $374 for the floor section in the secondary market. VIP passes are around $538. Tickets for the Ottawa showdown are still up for grabs as of the time of writing, with prices ranging from $147 to $696. The VIP passes cost over $700 in most markets.

Blackpink was featured at the Grammy showcase in February 2019 and was one of the star performers at the 2019 Coachella Music Festival. They are one of the most famous K-Pop groups of 2019—every penny spent on their shows is worthwhile.


GOT7

GOT7 is another South Korean boy band—this one recording under the JYP Entertainment label. GOT7 are famous for its live stage performances, which often include elements of martial arts and street dancing in a way that is rarely seen on stage—by singers or otherwise.

GOT7 has released four studio albums, 14 EPs, 22 singles, and two box sets since their debut in 2014. Their first EP was titled Got It? and kept them as chart-topper for many weeks. They have continued on in an impressive manner since then, recording many award-winning songs in the process.

GOT7 has traveled on three World Tours, with the first being the 2017 Fly tour through Asia, Latin America, and North America. This was followed by their EYES ON YOU World Tour where the group performed a total of 21 shows on four continents.

Most of the tickets for their shows are sold within the ranges of $115 to $159, with shows lasting about two to three hours—depending on who they’re playing with, of course.

They are currently on a world tour in support of their most recent album. They’re scheduled to perform a total of 22 shows on five continents. Eight of these will take place in Asia with the rest seeing GOT7 take their talents to places like the U.S. and countries throughout Europe. Recent setlists for the tour include the biggest songs from their most recent albums

The average prices of concerts based in U.S. cities vary a little bit, depending on where you’re located. These prices average around the following: $173 (Los Angeles), $127 (New York), $205 (Oakland), $115 (New York), $135 (Dallas), and $192 (Houston).

Their next show will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, at the Rajamangala National Stadium on February 15th. Tickets are available for as low as $174 for section S zone and maybe as high as $714 for section AR1.

TWICE

Twice is a South Korean girl group with nine members. They were formed by JYP Entertainment through the 2015 reality show Sixteen. TWICE is a three-time Song of the Year Winner through the Mnet Asian Music Awards.

The group debuted on October 20, 2015, with the EP The Story Begins and grew in fame in 2016 with their single “Cheer Up,” winning Song of the Year awards at the 8th Melon Music Awards and the 18th Mnet Asian Music Awards shortly after.

TWICE has performed shows in front of thousands of people in different cities of Asia. Their debut concert series was titled, Twice 1st Tour: Twiceland. This was followed by Twice Showcase Live Tour 2018 “Candy Pop” (2018), Twice 2nd Tour: Twiceland Zone 2 – Fantasy Park (2018), Twice 1st Arena Tour 2018 “BDZ” (2018), Twice Dome Tour 2019 “Dream day” (2019).

Twice World Tour “Twicelights” (2019–2020) which started on March 20, 2019, will see the Twice idol group performing at 29 shows including three in North America. It’s estimated they will perform in front of about 220,000 fans altogether.

The average price for Twice tickets starts at $175 but the minimum get-in price can be as low as $26. Their concert is usually two-and-a-half to three hours long and it promises to be a fun experience—even if you’ve seen them play before. Twice performances are always a “miss-it-and- regret-it” event and you can expect to see members carry out choreography to their songs while performing live. You might also want to get lost in the hilarity that they create when setting fan chants to tracks. The setlists for the Twicelights tour include “Stuck in My Head,” “Cheer Up,” “I Want You Back,” “Strawberry,” and many more.

The Twicelights tour continues into March and the group has a handful of shows coming up in February. Cities around Japan will be on fire when the group unleashes a truckload of electrical performances on this next leg of their tour. They will cap this leg of the tour with performances on 3/3 and 3/4 in Tokyo, Japan.

The tickets for the upcoming events are selling fast and continue to be in high demand. The average price of the best-value tickets is $140 per person. VIP prices stand at around $704 per ticket. You may not be able to find tickets from sites like SeatGeek or StubHub tickets. You may have to venture out to different ticket providers.


 EXO

Exo is a nine-member South Korean–Chinese boy band formed by SM Entertainment in 2011. Exo releases and performs music in Korean, Mandarin, and Japanese. This wide range of talent and nationality has given them an even bigger fanbase than some other K-Pop groups start out with.

Exo-K and Exo-M debuted with the single “Mama” on April 8, 2012. Exo’s first album XOXO, which contains the breakthrough hit “Growl,” sold over one million copies. Subsequent albums and EPs have also seen strong sales.

Exo has won the Album of the Year award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards five times in a row and  two consecutive Artist of the Year wins at the Melon Music Awards

Exo’s first headlining tour was in 2014. The band has performed over 100 concerts across 4 tours and participated in multiple joint tours.

The group’s last Tour, Exoplanet 5 started in July 2019 and ended on December 31st of 2019.

This saw the group performing 31 shows in front of hundreds of thousands of audiences across 14 cities in Asia. The average ticket price for the EXO concert ranged from $178 to $298. VIP tickets go for a higher price, as you might expect.

Exo concerts are a delight to attend and every K-Pop fan should experience at least once while they can. Their entrance is powerful, their performances are explosive, and their vocal range is awesome. Throw in their awesome choreography and you have one of the most extraordinary shows you will ever see.

They currently hold endorsement deals with brands like the Nature Republic and Samsung.

The band has been cited as one of the top five most influential celebrities on the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list each year from 2014 to 2018, and has been named “the biggest boy band in the world” as well as the “Kings of K-pop” by media outlets.

 TXT

TXT is a five-member South Korean boy band formed by Big Hit Entertainment that debuted on March 4, 2019, with the EP The Dream Chapter: Star. TXT is a new—but fast-rising—group. They’ve already become famous for breaking the record for the most viewed K-Pop debut music video within 24 hours for a boy group.

On October 21, 2019, TXT announced the release of their first studio album, The Dream Chapter: Magic, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Emerging Artists, World Albums, and World Digital Song Sales chart. TXT has announced that they will be releasing their Japanese debut “Magic Hour” on January 15, 2020.

TXT embarked on their first-ever tour in April 2019. The tour features a six-show debut showcase in major U.S. markets, including New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Orlando, and Atlanta. Tickets to all shows were sold out in less than ten minutes.

Each of the venues has 2 ticket price options: P1 tickets sold for $75 and P2 sold at $50.

TXT is still a new presence in the K-Pop scene, so it may be premature to list them amongst the greats. Still, they have won the Rookie of the Year (Music) category at the Asia Artist Awards 2019 and were the winner of Male Rookie Idol of the Year at Brand of the Year Awards (2019). The group has a promising future ahead of them.


IU

Lee Ji-Eun, professionally known as IU, is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actress.

IU is the most popular solo female artist in Korean music right now. She has staged several concerts and traveled on several tours to date. The “Good Day” crooner performed over 60 shows between 2012 and 2016, taking her to the cities in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan. IU also performed six shows during her IU 2017 Tour. In 2019, during the 2019 IU Tour LOVE POEM, IU performed 15 shows in different cities across South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan.

IU began her music career at the age of 15 with her debut album Lost and Found under the recording label Kakao M. It was the release of “Good Day,” the lead single from her 2010 album Real that gave her international stardom. “Good Day” spent five consecutive weeks at the top position of South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart In 2019, it was ranked number one on Billboard magazine’s 100 Greatest K-Pop Songs of the 2010s. IU has released four studio albums and nine extended plays, scoring three number-one albums and twenty-two number-one singles on the Gaon Music Charts.

RED VELVET

Red Velvet is a group of five South Korean girls, debuting on August 1, 2014, under the SM Entertainment label.

Red Velvet has staged three headlining tours and four supporting tours to date. During Red Velvet’s first major tour in 2017 (titled Red Room), the group performed in nine cities across Asia drawing about 51,000 fans.

The Second Tour, Red Mare, launched in 2018. It featured two legs of shows where they performed shows in 13 cities including Toronto, Vancouver, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Miami, to name a few.

The third Red Velvet tour is titled La Rouge. The La ROUGE concert is slated to take place between January and March of 2020. This will see them making stops at Hiroshima, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Yokohama. Tickets are already selling fast in the secondary market for as low as $172.

Red Velvet’s setlist includes hits like “Russian Roulette,” “Power Up,” “Mosquito,” “Look,” “Mr. E,” and “Blue Lemonade.”  Their exact setlist varies from performance to performance.
