Willie Nelson – Oct 4, Starlight Theatre
This man needs no introduction! In fact, there are probably very few people who don’t know who he is or appreciate the truly unique talent that he holds. Nelson is an American treasure. Instantly recognizable with his customary cowboy hat and bandana, he is a respected powerhouse of music with a career that spans over four decades. At the age of 84 he has released a new album, a catalog of originals titled God’s Problem Child which reached number one in the Top country albums and number ten on the Billboard 200. This gig will no doubt be an unmissable treat for music lovers and Nelson fans. Don’t miss your chance to see this legend in action right in your own back yard!
Matchbox Twenty & Counting Crows – Sep 27, Starlight Theatre
The Grammy nominated multi-platinum rockers Matchbox Twenty are taking their A Brief History of Everything Tour to the stage at the Starlight Theatre. The band’s lead singer Rob Thomas has explained that this tour is a celebration of the band’s history, following on from this year’s earlier announcement that the band was reforming.
They will be supported on this nostalgic journey by Counting Crows whose most famous hits include Mr. Jones and Hanginaround. This is set to be an electric coupling of two iconic bands, where the soft rock, folkish, country sound of Counting Crows meets the pop rock, post-grunge rhythms of Matchbox Twenty.
The Weeknd & Gucci Mane – Sep 26, Sprint Center
The Weeknd is a Canadian Grammy award-winning superstar, singer, and songwriter who was first propelled to fame in 2010 after he uploaded himself singing several songs to youtube. His talent was instantly recognized and following on from this he released his first number one album Beauty Behind the Madness. This album produced two number-one singles The Hills and Can’t Feel My Face. Both of these tracks went on to make history by simultaneously sitting at the top of the Billboard Hot R&B Songs. The Weeknd will be joined by rapper Gucci Mane, who is probably best-known for his song Black Beatles, which earned him a place on the Billboard top 100.
Gorillaz – Sep 22, Sprint Center
This British virtual band first gained worldwide notoriety in 2001 with their debut album Gorillaz, which went on to sell over seven million copies. They are currently promoting their fifth studio album Humanz, which features collaborations from a catalog of famous voices including Grace Jones, Pusha T, Rag’n’Bone Man and Anthony Hamilton.
