The Weeknd & Gucci Mane – Sep 26, Sprint Center
The Weeknd is a Canadian Grammy award-winning superstar, singer, and songwriter who was first propelled to fame in 2010 after he uploaded himself singing several songs to youtube. His talent was instantly recognized and following on from this he released his first number one album Beauty Behind the Madness. This album produced two number-one singles The Hills and Can’t Feel My Face. Both of these tracks went on to make history by simultaneously sitting at the top of the Billboard Hot R&B Songs. The Weeknd will be joined by rapper Gucci Mane, who is probably best-known for his song Black Beatles, which earned him a place on the Billboard top 100.
Rise Against in Baltimore – Oct 4, Pier Six Concert Pavilion
Chicago’s Rise Against trace their roots back to 1999 when ex-88 Fingers Louie bassist Joe Principe combined with Tim McIlrath for a hardcore project. Fellow 88 Fingers member Dan Precision joined on guitar and drummer Brandon Barnes completed the rhythm section, issuing The Unraveling in 2001. Rise Against released their major-label debut in August 2004 with Siren Song of the Counter Culture. In 2005, Rise Against appeared in “Lords of Dogtown”, where they played an old-school Cali punk band. (They performed a rousing version of Black Flag’s “Nervous Breakdown” for the film’s soundtrack.) In April 2017, Rise Against released “The Violence,” the first single from their eighth studio offering, Wolves, which was released to critical acclaim in May.
ZZ TOP – Oct 15, Hippodrome Theater
Coming off their 2017 Tonnage Tour, ZZ Top will hit the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore as part of the legendary band’s U.S tour on October 15 “We’re looking forward to playing for so many good folks in some of our favorite locales,” ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons stated. “After four decades, we believe we’re beginning to get the hang of this whole rock and roll thing, so a mighty good time will be enjoyed by all.” The North American leg of ZZ Top’s tour includes nearly 50 shows in all, one of which will be a hotly anticipated stop in Baltimore.
