The Austin City Limits Festival is an annual festival held in Zilker Park in Austin, Texas over two consecutive three-day weekends. It’s inspired by public television’s music series of the same name and is produced by the same team behind Lollapalooza. The long-lasting reputation of the tv program led to the festival’s immediate success. The event hosts eight stages that feature artists from a variety of musical genres: rock, indie, country, folk, electronic, and hip-hop.

The television series originally emphasized artists from Texas, but the festival has brought about greater genre diversity. Performers who have appeared on both the show and the festival include LCD Soundsystem, Depeche Mode, Pearl Jam, Phish, The Shins, and Keith Urban. Austin City Limits also highlights top-notch food options and local art through vendors placed all over the festival grounds.
During the inaugural year, Austin City Limits was held over two days only. The next year, it increased its duration to three days. In 2013, the festival again increased its duration to take place over two weekends. The Flaming Lips, Bjork, The White Stripes, and Amy Winehouse were just a few of the prominent artists early on.
Austin Eats is the official name for the festival’s food court, which is modeled after the Jazz Fest in New Orleans. The food court features Austin’s finest restaurants and caters to each individual attendee. Each year, there are gluten-free and vegetarian options as well as savory options. Frequent vendors include Torchy’s Tacos, Stubbs B-B-Q, Chi’Lantro BBQ, and Amy’s Ice Creams. The ACL Art Market is the other feature area with numerous art vendors.
Austin Kiddie Limits makes bringing your family to Austin City Limits a more-than-bearable (even enjoyable!) experience. The festival offers creative and informative activities like baby changing stations and the Tag-A-Kid program. There are even stroller lanes to make getting around with your young ones simple.
How to Get Austin City Limits Tickets

Tickets are highly sought after. This is partially due to the unique multi-weekend structure of the event. Attendees are able to make a week-long extravaganza out of their time in Austin, Texas.
Tickets are sold per weekend though. In order to attend both, you’ll need to hand over some cash. For each weekend, per three-day stint, there are general admission, GA+, VIP, and platinum options. Each level of ticket doubles in price, but also doubles in perks. Austin City Limits also makes layaway options available where visitors can pay for their tickets in installments.
